This isn't enough, but verbalizing them is a good start.

Action is the thing that differentiates wishes from goals.

We all dream. We think of lives that we want, places we want to go, people we want to meet, body’s we want to have, where we want to live, things we’d want to do, a family life that we cherish, lots of friends to share and laugh with, restaurants we’d like to try, trips we’d like to take, accomplishments we’d like to accomplish and the list goes on….

The real difference between a wish and a realized goal is ACTION.  In fact one way that immediately ups the chance of accomplishing these wishes is to turn them to goals by WRITING THEM DOWN.  Action is the thing that turns our thoughts into reality!  Just by writing down your wish, it becomes tangible and the more tangible, the more likely to happen.  By writing your goals they become more clear in your mind, and the clearer the goal, the easier it is to take action.  Your mind is really two minds, a conscious mind (what you are using to process this information – effort/focus) and a subconscious mind (what you are using to read these words –  effortlessly).   You see your subconscious mind is the auto pilot, it’s the part of your mind that takes over once an activity becomes a habit.  Think of how difficult it was for you to first ride a bike or read a sentence or tie your shoes, and now how easily you do these things without really thinking about it.  That’s the amazing subconscious mind at work operating like a computer that is programmed by the work of the conscious mind.  The conscious mind is what you focus with, what you learn with and how you program yourself.

2 IS BETTER!

Stay with me folks, this will make sense be practical and help achieve your goals.  By writing down your goals clearly and reviewing them often, putting them in a place that can be seen, solidifying them in your mind and believing you can make them real, your subconscious mind starts to take over and will look for ways to help you accomplish your goals.  Ever notice when you buy a new bag or bike or car how many of the exact same items you notice out there in the world when prior to your purchase you didn’t even notice any?  That’s your subconscious identifying things to your conscious mind that may be of importance.  Those cars were always out there, but prior to your purchase, it wasn’t important to your subconscious mind.  Another example of the power of the subconscious is how two women one with kids and one without can be walking through the mall together and the mom will notice all of the sales on school stuff and clothes for the kids, while the other woman will notice travel agency sales and personal care sales.  Your subconscious mind identifies what is important to you, so all you have to do is carefully select what is important to you by feeding your mind with information about your goals.  If you have goals of weight-loss or strength gain, write down exactly what you want, how you want to look, even cut out a picture.  Also, write the why (see last weeks post), why this is important and ideas of how to make it happen.  Then put this goal somewhere you can see it everyday and read it aloud memorize it, and just watch what happens.  You will start to notice and seek out friends interested in the same goals, hiking clubs, free fitness classes, healthy cooking classes, books on the subject, wellness chiropractors and coaches ;-p, free workshops on goal setting and achieving and the list will go on and on.

So take action and write your goals down, visualize, revisit your goals often and put the power of your subconscious to work for you!  More on this topic THIS SATURDAY THE 14TH at our OPEN HOUSE
